Marc Houtzager wins the Rolex/FEI Grand Prix

After winning the Gucci Masters Grand Prix in Paris three weeks before, Duch rider Marc Houtzager brought his year to the perfect close when winning two tough classes in the Olympia Horse Show in London –in particular the sevent leg of the 2012/2013 Rolex/FEI Word Cup.

On Saturday evening, in the H&M Yvy Stakes, with fences 1,60m high and a jump-off, Marc Houtzager riding Sterreforf’ Uppity won first prize. Irish rider Cian O’Connor riding Ishd Dual Star, came in second –only 7 hundreths of seconds slower. Peter Charles slotted into third with Murka's Nevada.

The seventh leg of the Rolex/FEI World Cup

Next, in the Rolex/FEI Grand Prix presented by H&M, Mac Houtzager has another victory, riding his horse Sterrehof's Tamino. He produces one of the only three double clears of the competition in a time of 34.67.

Swedish rider Malin Baryard-Johnsson calme in second, riding H&M Tornesch in 36.63 –almost 2 seconds slower than the winner. British rider Peter Charles riding his incredibly talented frenchbred mare, Murka’s Odie de Frévent, takes third place in 37,54.

Nick Skelton, (also a famous british rider) comes in fourthwith his impressing bai stallion Big Star, whilst French lady-rider Pénélope Leprévost takes fifth place, with Nayana (a mare formerly ridden by Kevin Staut).

March Houtzager said : « It looks like London is the place to be for me! I won team Silver at the Olympic Hames, and now I’ve had my first World Cup win here. It’s a great win for me. And it is especially because it is the lastest show of the year ! »

In the Olympia Grand Prix, on Sunday, the winner was German rider Markus Ehning riding Sabrina. Next came recently crowned GCT winner Edwina Tops-Alexander, riding Ego von Orti –a horse she hasn’t been riding a lot yet. Janika Sprunger, for Switzerand, riding Uptown Boy, came in third. Janika, who is the daughter of famous rider and trainer Hansueli Sprunger, has been quite successful these times, beeing 4th in the Rolex/FEI World Cup in Geneva.
